Hi!
My name is Christine, I am a 22 year old college graduate with a BS in Kinesiology. I am passionate about health and wellness and strive to teach others the benefits and values of exercise and nutrition.
All throughout my childhood and adolescence, I struggled with my weight, suffered from exercise induced asthma, allergies, lactose intolerance, fatigue and would constantly be sick. Oh and I was a vegetarian.
My diet consisted of veggies, fruit, soy products, some dairy (fat free milk, yogurt, cheese) and grains....lots of grains. In high school I was not very athletic, and out of shape. Although I was never really "fat" I was about 130-135 lbs and only 5'0, which according to regulation weight and height charts is overweight.
As I entered into my freshmen year of college, my weight problems only got worse. My diet consisted of crappy dorm food, alcohol, and late night "drunchies." By the end of my freshmen year I was over 140 lbs. At this point I was exercising at the student rec center, but was not exercising enough for the amount of calories I consumed.
Going into my sophomore year, I changed my major to Kinesiology and became inspired to better my health through exercise and diet. I started cutting my calories, and exercising more. I lost about 20 pounds during that school year. From then until my senior year of college I limited my calories and exercised moderately, but was still feeling fatigued and constantly hungry.
When I graduated from college I got a job at a chiropractic clinic and discovered Paleo. I have heard about it before and seen recipes on Pinterest, but was not entirely sure what it was. The head chiropractor at my office lived by paleo and recommended Robb Wulf's book The Paleo Solution. After he explained to me what paleo was, I thought I would expand my horizons and read it. Reading this book changed my life and changed my perspective entirely on government dietary regulations and explore the life-changing benefits of paleo. Through this blog I hope to inspire you all to give paleo a chance, and realize that this way of living is not only simple but extremely effective.
